6th Night of Knowledge in G\u00f6ttingen<\/h2>\n[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]During the G\u00f6ttingen Night of Knowledge, scientific institutions open their doors to the public, providing insights into their work. It offers the opportunity to engage in conversations with researchers and participate in various activities and experiments. <\/p>\n

The Else Kr\u00f6ner-Fresenius Center for Optogenetic Therapies participated in this event for the first time since its establishment on April 1, 2024.<\/p>\n

Scientists from the fields of \u201cBetter Hearing with Light\u201d and \u201cFighting Vision Loss with Light\u201d informed their audience in the lecture hall with exciting presentations about the state of research and new therapeutic approaches.[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row row_type=”main-section” stukram_section_layout=”section_grid”][vc_column][vc_empty_space height=”90px”][vc_column_text]\n

Seeing with all Sensory Cells – is Optogenetics the Answer to Blindness?<\/h3>\n[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]The human retina is central to vision: light-sensitive photoreceptor cells capture light and process it in the brain to create visual impressions. Many forms of blindness lead to the degeneration of photoreceptors. In optogenetics, viral vectors introduce genetic information into cells, making them light-sensitive. But can humans actually see with other retinal cells? <\/p>\n
