Lower Saxony is launching a major investment programme for its universities. In addition to the regular funds for construction and refurbishment, the state is providing around \u20ac627 million for construction, modernisation and equipment measures.
\nThe funds come from the federal government\u2019s special fund for infrastructure and climate neutrality (SVIK). This is intended to ensure that necessary modernisation at the universities is implemented quickly and that the infrastructure is developed sustainably. The State of Lower Saxony is giving a high priority to science in this context. University Medical Center G\u00f6ttingen (UMG) to build new institute<\/b><\/div>\n
A substantial part of the funding is earmarked for the new building for the Institute of Auditory Neuroscience\/Else Kr\u00f6ner Fresenius Center for Optogenetic Therapies. Support for the construction project was already pledged in 2024 as part of the funding provided by the Else Kr\u00f6ner-Fresenius Foundation.
