The University Medical Center Göttingen (UMG) is constructing a new research building for the Institute for Auditory Neurosciences (IAN). By the end of 2028, over 1,800 square meters will house laboratories, offices, and spaces for scientific exchange. In the new building, together with the working groups of the Else Kröner Fresenius Center for Optogenetic Therapies (EKFZ-OT), work will focus on developing new approaches for the restoration of hearing – from gene therapeutic procedures to optogenetic cochlear implants. The state of Lower Saxony has allocated approximately 35.5 million Euros for the construction.
